In each edition of Library World, we will list opprotunities for teen volunteers to earn community service credit. Each program will give different amounts of credit earned.
Yearly Opportunities (Look for future dates in Library World):
You will read to and are read to by children in kindergarten through fourth grade once per month. All books and materials are provided and refreshments are served. This program is one of the most popular ways to earn community service credit!
Buddy Game Day
Once a month, spend the afternoon playing board games with younger children. An assortment of games are available to choose from and refreshments are served.
Friends of the Library Book Sale
Help the Friends of the Library sort through donations and set up for their annual book sale. Help is also needed during the sale and packing up unsold books at the end of the sale. Look for this event every October.
Summer Reading Program
In addition to earning "Library Dollars", participants entering grades 9-12 will have the opprotunity to earn one hour of community service credit for each book report/ review submitted and approved during the program. A max of five hours of community service can be earned this way.
